Lane Neely Pitches Shutout to Earn DeRidder a Trip to State Tournament

  • Lane Neely threw a shutout to lead DeRidder past Buckeye 6-0 on Friday and earn the Dragons a trip to the state tournament in Sulphur..
  • DeRidder got things moving in the first inning. Parker Taylor drove in one when he singled scoring Cameron LeJeune who led off the inning with an infield single. Neely would help his own cause later in the inning with a double down the left field line scoring Taylor and Trace Galloway who courtesy ran for Jakob Broocks who was hit by a pitch.
  • Neely led the DeRidder Dragons to victory on the pitcher's mound. He went seven innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out 13.
  • Hockersmith took the loss for Buckeye. He allowed four hits and five runs over four innings, striking out five.
  • Taylor led DeRidder with two hits in four at bats. DeRidder didn't commit a single error in the field.
  • The Dragons will play in the semi-final state tournament game against Westgate Friday May 11th at 1:30pm in Sulphur at McMurray Park Field 40.
